Conversations on Consciousness: Scientist Philosopher Dialogue
Prasad Rangnekar and Abha Karki Rajbhandari, PhD
Time and Location
December 1st and December 3rd
90 minutes each/session Over Zoom

This two-part dialogue brings science and philosophy together to explore consciousness not only as an abstract idea, but as something present in every moment of our lives. We will examine how consciousness is studied, interpreted, and experienced and ask whether awakening is less about finding something new and more about becoming aware of what is already here!
Part 1: The Basics of Consciousness: Science and Philosophy (December 1)
We will explore what consciousness is, how modern neuroscience approaches the question of subjective experience, and how ancient philosophical traditions have understood awareness and the nature of the Self. We will also examine one of the central questions in the study of consciousness: Does the brain create consciousness, or could consciousness be more fundamental than matter?
Part 2: Making Consciousness Practical: Energy (December 3)
We will move from theory into lived experience by exploring Yogic perspectives on consciousness and energy. Using the Panchakosha model, we will examine the different layers of human experience from the physical body and breath to the mind, discernment, and deeper awareness and consider how we can cultivate greater presence in everyday life.
Together, these conversations invite us to ask not only What is consciousness? but also How do we live more consciously?
