Dr. Abha Karki Rajbhandari, Ph.D.

Neuroscientist and Spiritual Seeker

Dr. Rajbhandari is a neuroscientist at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where her research explores the interaction between the brain, the vagus nerve, and bodily systems, particularly in the realms of fear, stress, and anxiety.

But her work doesn't end at the lab bench. Beyond the world of science, Dr. Rajbhandari is a lifelong spiritual seeker and a passionate advocate for whole-brain-body healing. To her, spirituality is not separate from daily life — it is intricately woven into every breath, every challenge, and every discovery.

Born in Nepal, a country deeply rooted in spiritual traditions, she moved to the United States after high school to pursue academic and scientific training. While her spiritual path began in her homeland, it unfolded through inquiry, reflection, and a lifelong commitment to understanding the human experience through reason and revelation.

As her journey progressed, Dr. Rajbhandari found herself walking between two worlds: The world of data and brain research, and the world of stillness, mystery, and meaning. She created NeuroChetanā as a sacred space for these two worlds to meet.

This vision was born not only from intellectual curiosity but also from lived experience. Ten years ago, her spiritual path took a transformative turn after she navigated personal challenges and sought deeper healing. That journey reached a profound milestone when she completed the sacred parikrama (circumambulation) of Mount Kailash in Tibet—a pilgrimage that opened her heart and deepened her calling.

It was there that the seed of NeuroChetanā took root.

This is more than a personal mission — it responds to a collective need. In a world fragmented by division, healing and understanding demand a holistic approach that honors the fullness of our being — body, mind, and spirit.

Dr. Rajbhandari’s work now lives at the intersection of neuroscience and consciousness, where the rational and the mystical meet — not in conflict, but in harmony. She invites you to explore this path with her — to walk the bridge between what can be measured and what must be felt.
